Parent Organization: Marquette University

Women and Youth Supporting Each other (WYSE) is dedicated to strengthening the lives and communities of women and girls through a curriculum based, group and one-on-one mentorship program that strives to address all the issues that can contribute to their disempowerment. Some of our sessions include:

  • Financial Literacy
  • Race, Racism & Discrimination
  • Personal Identity
  • Gender Stereotypes
  • Body Image/Eating Disorders
  • Violence Against Women
  • Drugs and Alcohol
  • Future Options

A college female student is paired up with a 6th through 8th grader from Bethune Academy, a nearby middle school. We hold weekly sessions on Fridays, 2:15-4:30 p.m. at Bethune Academy, where we strengthen our mentor/mentee relationships. It is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to the community and make an impact in a young girl’s life.
